A Go London update…

Back in May, the Go London Finals took place at City Hall, where five brand new ideas battled it out to win the Go London Social Innovation Competition. Our cycle scholar competition winners were also presented with their bikes and equipment from our friends at Evans Cycles. So, what’s happening now?

The Go London Winners

Since the competition Danielle and Ingrid have been busy preparing their winning ideas, Go 10,000 and Pop Up Fitness, so they are ready to move forward and take full advantage of the Go London prize package. Yesterday they will took part in their first prize, consultancy from Deloitte and over the summer will be receiving support from NHS LondonThinkPublic, Precedent and M&C Saatchi. We’ll be reporting on progress from all the prizes over on the Go London blog as well as asking Danielle and Ingrid to share their experience of bringing their idea to life.

Here Danielle chats to us about what she took away from the consultancy session from Deloitte:

The Finalists

All our finalists impressed our judging panel to such an extent that all have been invited to continue to have conversations with those who may be able to help direct their ideas into something even better. We’ll be keeping in touch and blogging news from Splashpath, Amazing London and The GoGame.

Our Cycle Scholars

Each of our scholars entered as they wanted to get that little more active in their everyday lives. Jo, Dan and Nicola will be frequently dropping by the blog to let you know how their journeys into the world of cycling are going and how they are finding the City by bike.

You can also find all Go London news over on twitter- we hope you stay in touch!

  • A huge thank you to Deloitte, Go London and of course the fantastic twosome of Dominic and Lauren from Future Gov for Monday’s workshop. I received fantastic advice from all who attended on how to turn my idea into a reality and I am really excited to be taking my idea to the next stage.
Yesterday I attended the launch of NHS Challenge 2,012 by 2012 which is a challenge to chief executives of NHS Trusts to get 2,012 staff active by 2012. This was an incredibly inspiring event with keynote speeches by Jonathan Edwards and Steven Parry talking about their Olympic experiences along with hugely influential figures within the NHS of Dr Steven Boorman and Mike Farrar NHS Lead for Physical Activity & Sport. I was in awe! You could not help but come away inspired by 2012 and my head was buzzing with excitement at how my idea can link in to this challenge.
I felt a huge sense of pride to be at that event which is due to me winning the Go London Social Innovation Competition and would like to say huge thank you to the Go London and Future Gov team for your ongoing support and for picking my idea!
