Interactivism is coming… hack event on the 17th – 18th June

*Updated: Submit your ideas over on Simpl now!*

Prototyping new digital solutions to the age old problem of making the web accessible to older generations.

Here at FutureGov we believe the web should be fit for all. So today we’re excited to let you know about our upcoming hack event, Interactivism, that we are delivering in partnership with Google.

Interactivism is a two day open source accessibility hackathon event that will bring together the best student developers, Googlers, designers and other social innovators in crack teams to hack a better web that overcomes the barriers that stand in the way of older people accessing the web by prototyping new digital solutions. So, we’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have a great idea for how to hack the web better, creating smart apps and hacks.
  • You’re a student developer who wants to put your skills to the test.
  • Or would just like to be involved, whether you are a developer, designer or just interested in helping out.

Together with Google we will be your hosts for two days 17th – 18th June 2011 at LBi’s offices in Brick Lane, East London. It will be an ideal opportunity to gain experience, show off your skills, expand your network and possibly even have your idea taken forward for further development!

Those who attend will work together in (up to 10) teams to develop solutions and at the end of the two days a winning team will be chosen by our panel to win a bunch of Google tech prizes.

And that’s not all… participating students (and ideas) will also be eligible to apply to be a part of the summer Interactivism award programme with Google, and while the recruitment process is separate from the Interactivism event itself, catching the eye of one of the Google team during the two days certainly won’t harm your chances.

You can register your interest in taking part in this first Interactivism event here.

Details on submitting your ideas are coming very soon, but we’d encourage you to get thinking now. You only have a few weeks to submit your idea once registration opens, as we’ll need it by 31st May 2011 if you’d like to be considered.

So get those bright ideas together and good luck!
