Stumble across your site after reading about some of your events that look really interesting, hope to tag along to one of your events soon. I also like the way your company champions new tech innovations for local government in the UK, which I think a lot of work can be done to deliver a better and cheaper* service compared to the current approaches.

*With all the cost cutting going it can be vital motivator to move as well as increase in use of Internet to complete tasks.

Thanks for blogging, and thanks for supporting the Jam! We like your description of the event (though we're not a competition, there is a friendly competitive spirit), and we certainly agree on the importance of "doing". :)

Cheers,
Adam, CoInitiator

"The way we shop (or some people shop) has completely changed over the past 5-10 years, can we do the same with our benefit system ?" Yes and using conservative estimates that say: for every supermarket that opens,200-300 jobs are lost, then it's time to encourage small businesses by making it possible to open competing outlets, that can sell groceries and other goods for the same price.A level playing field so a monopoly tax on greedy supermarkets would be the first step, plus closing the loopholes of the supermarket "fat cats" and tax avoidance schemes would also be essential.Imagine if you closed down all the supermarkets tomorrow, how many jobs for small business that would create. The money from small businesses historically stays within the local community therefore stimulates the local economy, rather than distant shareholders and their polluting plasticised economy.
